Washington, D.C. – Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, today announced his endorsement of Democrat Mary Gay Scanlon in her Congressional bid.
“At a time when civil rights and voting rights are under attack, it’s more important than ever that we elect public servants like Mary Gay Scanlon to Congress,” said Eric H. Holder, Jr. “Mary Gay has dedicated her public interest work to protect our elections from voter suppression tactics, increasing access to justice for our most vulnerable communities, and working to advance the Obama Administration’s Clemency Project. I’m confident she will be an effective advocate in Congress for the women, children, and families of Pennsylvania.”
“Attorney General Holder has been a champion for criminal justice reform, voting rights and our civil rights,” Scanlon said. “Over the last 35 years, the values of fairness and justice have guided my public interest legal work and those values will serve as a compass should I be given the opportunity to serve in Congress. I’m honored to have Attorney General Holder’s endorsement and look forward to continue working with him on criminal justice reform and measures to protect our elections.”
